GUWAHATI, Dec 23 - Keeping in view that a large number of people are expected to converse at the inauguration ceremony of the Bogibeel bridge over the Brahmaputra on December 25, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will run four special trains on that day.

Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of NFR, said, “For the convenience of people attending the inauguration ceremony, NFR will run four special trains to and from Tangani on December 25. The trains will run from Gogamukh and Murkongselek.”

The first special train (05816/05815) will leave Murkongselek at 7 am to arrive at Tangani at 9:30 am with stoppages at Telam, Simen Chapari and Sripani. The second special train (05862/05861) will leave Murkongselek at 8:15 am to arrive at Tangani at 10:15 am with stoppages at Laimekuri and Sripani.

Another special train (05812/05811) will leave Gogamukh at 7:30 am to arrive at Tangani at 9 am with stoppages at Bordoloni and Dhemaji. A fourth special train (05894/05893) will leave Gogamukh at 8:30 am to arrive at Tangani at 9:55 am with stoppages at Moridhal and Sripani.

The return journeys of all the trains have been kept as ‘open timings’ (not fixed, but flexible).

“The open timings of the trains in return direction are planned keeping in mind the not-yet-fixed duration of the public meeting to be addressed by the Prime Minister,” said Sharma.

It is noteworthy that a controversy has erupted over the naming of the bridge. Various organisations have suggested naming the bridge in memory of different personalities and historical figures.
