Sports Reporter GUWAHATI, Dec 23 - Goa secured a vital first innings lead of 15 runs against hosts Assam on the second day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Resuming at an overnight total of 66 for three in reply to Assam’s 175, Goa ended their first innings with 193 runs in 65.5 overs. Snehal Kauthankar top scored with a knock of 69 runs off 116 deliveries which included eight hits to the fence while Sumiran Amonkar contributed 35 runs off 140 balls. Sagun Kamat and Lakshay A Garg chipped in with 29 and 19 runs respectively. Mukhtar Hussain and Arup Das picked up three wickets each conceding 67 and 72 runs respectively while Pallav Kr Das and Ranjeet Mali scalped two wickets each.
Assam were 119 for the loss of four wickets in 45 overs when stumps were drawn for the end of second day’s play. Rishav Das was batting on 51 and skipper Amit Sinha was on nine. For Goa, Krishna Das picked up all the four wickets for 42 runs in 19 overs. Assam were 104 runs ahead and with six wickets in hand.
