IMPHAL, Dec 23 - The Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council has decided to field former Minister and CPI leader Dr M Nara Singh as party’s candidate for Inner Parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The decision of the state council was tabled at the 3-day national council meeting of CPI which concluded at Visakhapatnam on Friday, according to CPI sources here.
Speaking to reporters at CPI office here on Sunday, a party leader said that the party will work to defeat the BJP candidate in the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha polls.
The national council meeting also condemned the detention of Kishorchandra Wangkhem, a news anchor of a Manipur-based local cable TV network under NSA. It also demanded release of Kishorchandra.
