Cartridge found from trader’s house
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Dec 23 - A cartridge was recovered from the roof of a trader’s house located at Mathuranagar hillside of Santipur today.

Police said Bajrakanta Kumar, owner of the house, heard sound “resembling that of stone falling in the roof” at around 10.30 pm yesterday.

“At around 9 am today when he checked, he saw a hole in the roof and a cartridge was wedged in the wooden frame of the roof,” a police official said. The cartridge was retrieved by police.

“It appears to be that of a small arm, probably a .22 pistol. Based on the first impression, it appears that the shooter did not target the house. We will have to check if it was an authorised weapon or not and whether the shooting was done for practice or fired accidentally,” the police said.

As Kumar’s house is located on the hillside, vehicles cannot ply on the road leading to the house.
