|Code violation Brindaban, 2 others acquitted|
GUWAHATI, Dec 21 - The Court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class), Kamrup (Metro), today acquitted Asom Gana Parishad leader Brindaban Goswami, then AGP leader Apurba Bhattacharya and then Telugu Desam MP Ram Mohan Rao in connection with a case related to the violation of the election code of conduct in 2006.
The Court of M Hazarika acquitted the accused due to lack of any evidence against them.
The accused were represented by advocate Bijon Kumar Mahajan after a complaint case was lodged by Syamanta Rabi Barah, the then Circle
Officer of Kamrup (Metro) and Assistant Returning Officer (Guwahati East Constituency) under Section 126 of the Representation of People’s Act, alleging that the accused had addressed the media in the party (AGP) office on April 2, 2006, leading to the violation.
