India Club tennis from tomorrow

 GUWAHATI, Dec 21 The 15th India Club junior tennis championship will begin at the India Club courts here tomorrow.

This year the championship, which is recognised by All Assam Tennis Association (AATA), will be sponsored by Royal Global School.

India Club president Prasanta Das, addressing a press conference today said, competitions will be conducted in the age group U-12, U-14, U-18 for boys and U-14, U-18 for girls. Apart from that veterans above 35 years will also be seen in action

Das revealed that an amount of Rs 51,000 is at stake as scholarship money for the juniors. Das further said, till today above 250 entries have been received from Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya. But the total number of competitors will be finalised on December 23 after signing up of the players. Apart from scholarship money players will also gain AATA points from the tournament.

PN Sarma, representative of Royal Global School said, their organisation is keen to be associated with the State level tennis tournaments. Like this year in future also they will happy if can be associated in organising such tournaments. He also handed over a cheque of Rs 51,000 to Das.

India Club secretary Bijon Choudhury and tournament director Rishi Raj Das were also present in the press meet.
