Nalbari AASU holds massive protest rally

 NALBARI, Dec 20 - The Nalbari district unit of AASU with the cooperation of some other organisations of the district organised a large anti-CAA rally at Nalbari town to counter the peace rally organised by the ruling party at Gurdon Field here.

Despite the police barricades all over all the roads of the town, thousands of people gathered at the Nalbari Swahid Bhawan this morning. Then they tried to take out a protest rally but the security personnel prevented them from doing so at Nalbari Thana Chowk. The protesters finding no alternative sat on the PNC Road and organised a protest meet to oppose the ‘black’ Act. Thousands of people from all walks of life irrespective of caste and creed took part in the rally and raised their voice against the CAA.

Addressing the protest meeting, the organising secretary of AASU Himan Barman, its central executive member Bhabajit Bezbaruah, secretary of the Nalbari Harimandir Committee Nagen Deka, president of the Nalbari district unit of AASU Gunajit Pathak, AASU central executive member Bhabajit Bezbaruah, Professor Dipak Kalita, artists Ajoy Phukan, Babu Baruah, poet Pankaj Gobind Medhi, Pranab Kumar Barman strongly opposed the Citizenship Amendment Act in the State. Representatives from nearly 35 organisations of the district including the students from the colleges of Nalbari town joined the rally. The protest meeting was conducted by Akshay Deka, general secretary of AASU.
