Foundation stone laid

 SILCHAR Dec 20 - At a time when the menace of drugs is spreading it’s tentacles among the youngsters of the region, Congress MLA from Lakhipur constituency of Cachar district Rajdip Goala feels, youths must be encouraged to get involved into sports activities.

Talking to The Assam Tribune on the sidelines of laying the foundation stone for the indoor sports complex in his constituency on Friday, Rajdip said, “ often we keep hearing about youths being arrested or victimised due to consumption of drugs. If they can be motivated to take up sports, the youngsters can be moulded into fine sports persons who can earn laurels for the state and the country. The new indoor stadium was proposed by me for betterment of sports activities here at Lakhipur and I believe the budding talents can reap great benefits in the coming years.”

Elaborating on the indoor sports complex, Rajdip who is also the president of Lakhipur DSA said that it would constructed under the signature project sanctioned by the Government to all MLAs for developmental activities. Rs 10 crores would be utilised to make the state of the art sports complex across 5 bigha land which shall have badminton courts along with arrangements for other sports.
