Tripura bandh peaceful

AGARTALA, Dec 20 – A dawn-to-dusk bandh called by ruling CPI(M) in Kamalpur sub-division of Tripura’s Dhalai district to protest the murder of a party activist passed off peacefully today.

Shops downed shutters, markets and educational institutions remained closed and vehicles kept off the roads.

Arun Shukladas, local CPI-M leader was murdered on December 18 and police have arrested eight people in connection with the murder since Sunday.

When the ruling CPI-M claimed that Shukladas was murdered by Congress activists, the Congress alleged that he was killed in an intra party clash. – PTI
