Left parties call 12-hour Manipur bandh today
Newmai News
IMPHAL, Dec 18 - Left parties in Manipur have called a dawn-to-dusk Manipur bandh against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act tomorrow. The bandh will commence at 6 am and end at 6 pm on Thursday.

The general strike is part of the nationwide protest call given by Left parties against the CAA.

Addressing a press conference at the CPI office here today, leaders of Left parties claimed that other political parties and civil society organisations are backing the general strike.

The CPI, CPI(M), RSP and Forward Bloc announced the bandh a few days ago.

Secretary of the Manipur State CPI Council, L Sotinkumar, alleged that the CAA is an anti-people Act.

Leaving aside ideological differences, several political parties, civil society organisations, voluntary organisations and women’s bodies have conveyed their support to the general strike call, Sotinkumar claimed.

The CPI leader termed the CAA as a draconian law which will put the secular structure of the country at stake. The Act will also dilute the ILP system, he added.
