GUWAHATI, Dec 16 – Eminent novelist and short-story writer Nirupama Bargohain has been selected for the ‘Prajna Ratna’ award instituted for the first time by the Kamrup Mahanagar Zila Sahitya Sabha.
The award will be presented to Bargohain at the bi-annual session of the Sabha at 9 am on December 25. The meet will be presided over by senior journalist DN Chakravartty.
Bargohain – acclaimed as one of the most prolific and powerful writers of the modern generation – has to her credit a number of novels. A recipient of Sahitya Akademi award, she has won many other awards and accolades.
Bargohain who also shone as a journalist was instrumental in building up the weekly Neelachal as one of the most powerful journals in Assam.
