|Bhubaneswar Assam Society organises protest|
GUWAHATI, Dec 15 - Hundreds of people from the Northeast staying in Odisha under the banner of Bubaneswar Assam Society, Odisha, participated in a democratic protest against the Citizens Amendment Act-2019, a press release stated.
The citizens here condemned the killing of innocent citizens and police atrocities towards their own citizens and also appealed to the Central government as well as the State government of Assam to refrain from such inhumane acts and also organised a condolence meet for the innocent souls who lost their lives.
The participants together opposed CAA implementation in Assam. They clarified that they are not against any religion – Hindu, Muslim or anybody else but they are vehemently opposed to Bangladeshi infiltrators. A large number of illegal foreigners have entered the Northeast particularly Assam due to porous borders and have become a threat to the indigenous culture, language and identity of the local people.
The participants demanded full implementation of the Assam Accord, detection and deportation of illegal Bangladeshis, irrespective of any religion and protection of indigenous sentiment under Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. They pledged to remain united with the fellow citizens of the Northeast and to continue their democratic fight against any divisive forces working against interests of the indigenous people of Assam as well as the entire Northeast.
The programme concluded with the singing of the State anthem of Assam 0 Mur Apunar Desh.
