ITANAGAR, Dec 15 - The Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) observed the National Energy Conservation Day with senior State Government officials stressing the need of conservation of energy and its benefits.
State Power Commissioner GS Meena and APEDA Director Marki Loya distributed prizes to the winners of the State-level essay writing competition and the home energy audit competition and the best energy club at a programme here in presence of school students and others.
The APEDA, under the sponsorship of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, had conducted the competitions to mark the Energy Conservation Week from December 6 to 14 with an aim to create awareness on energy conservation.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Power Commissioner called for conservation of energy in view of fast depleting natural resources, besides highlighting the benefits of energy conservation.
“Extra consumption of energy can deplete our ecosystem. We have to conserve energy,” he stated.
Emphasizing the need of energy preservation, the APEDA Director said, “If we do not conserve energy, we will face difficulties in future.” Describing the students as ambassadors of energy conservation, he exhorted the young participants to spread the knowledge they gained, with their fellow citizens at their respective places.
Earlier in the morning, a ‘prabhat pheri’ involving student members of energy clubs was taken out in the State capital to generate awareness on energy conservation and energy efficiency.
