Pankaj Bora declared elected to RS

 GUWAHATI, Dec 15 – Congress nominee and former Education Minister of the State Pankaj Bora was today declared elected to the Rajya Sabha by the Returning Officer of the Rajya Sabha election G P Das.

Das, who is also the Secretary of the State Assembly, told this newspaper that since there is no other contestant to the Rajya Sabha seat that has fallen vacant due to the untimely demise of Congress’ Silvius Condpan, Bora was declared elected to the seat with due permission from the Election Commission (EC) of India.

The permission of the EC was obtained at 3-11 pm today and State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Hemanta Narzary, who was appointed observer of this election, was also present, at the time of declaring the result, Das said.
