Sports Reporter GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - The Guwahati Young Star Football Coaching Centre (GYSFCC) will conduct a 10-day winter football coaching camp at the Nehru Stadium here from December 23.
International footballer Debashis Roy will lead the eight-member coaches’ team to train the youngsters, mainly from city based schools.
Informing this in a press conference today, the secretary-cum-chief coach of the GYSFCC Hem Das said that they are expecting over 150 players in the age group of 8 to 15 years. The players will be divided into four groups according to their age and they will be trained by experienced coaches.
The GYSFCC, set up way back in 1979, has produced several international and national level footballers including Francis Baruah, Alen Deori, Sawan Thapa, Sushanta Mazumdar, Debashis Kar, Munna Chetry, Akhil Gogoi, Govinda Boro and Sanjay Boro, among others. Das revealed that the organisation is committed to work for the development of the game in the State and they have been organising different programmes from time to time to encourage the youngsters to take the game seriously.
Debashis Roy will be assisted by Khagen Saikia, Basanta Teron, Ashok Ramchiary, Sanju Sahi, Gajen Das, Ritumoni Das and Rajesh Bora in the camp.
