GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - As part of the ongoing security week celebration at Guwahati Refinery, a security mock drill was conducted on the refinery’s administrative building premises today.

The drill was conducted by jawans of the CISF unit stationed at the refinery with support from Bomb Detection and Disposal Unit of Assam Police, AISF and Home Guards.

The scenario was that a suspicious bag was discovered lying unattended in the lawns in front of the administrative building which was seen by an employee. Upon information, the CISF jawans immediately secured the perimeter around the area while sniffer dogs were deployed. Later the bomb disposal unit arrived at the location and diffused the bomb through proper security protocol.

The mock drill was witnessed by TC Sharma, GM (Security), and other senior officials of Guwahati Refinery. Ashutosh Gaur, Deputy Commandant CISF, was also present at the occasion.

Meanwhile, as part of celebration of the security week, an awareness programme was also organised at Gate no. 2 of Guwahati Refinery where the employees were informed about the importance of remaining vigilant and alert in order to avoid any untoward incident.

Earlier, the security week was inaugurated through a pledge-taking ceremony organised on the refinery’s administrative building campus on Thursday.

Jogen Barpujari, Executive Director, Guwahati Refinery, administered the security pledge to the employees of the refinery, the CISF personnel, the AISF personnel and the Home Guards towards protection of the refinery and its assets from any voluntary subversive impacts.

While offering his homage to the brave-hearts on behalf of Guwahati Refinery, Barpujari said the refinery is positioned in a highly sensitive zone in terms of safety and security, and therefore, along with the security forces deployed there, the employees and contractual workers can play a very important role to ensure its security by remaining constantly vigilant and alert.

During the week, various programmes such as a friendly volleyball match between members of Home Guards and CISF, online quiz for employees, security mock drill, security awareness programme for employees and contractual workers, health checkup for Home Guards etc., will be organised.

On the inaugural day, a quiz programme was also organised among the CISF jawans.
