Protest mounts in Dhubri district

 DHUBRI, Dec 12 - People today took out rallies in various parts of Dhubri district against the CAB. They shouted slogans against the BJP Governments at the Centre and State as well. Around 1,500 people assembled at the Dhubri town holding banners and posters registered their protest.

“The Bill will change entire demography and the overall situation of the State will be more complicated,” said advocate Moua Das, who led the rally on behalf of locals of Dhubri town.

The students also took out rallies at various parts of the district opposing the controversial Bill. The students of Dhubri Law College, BN College, Dhubri Girls’ College blocked the vital roads by registering their protest. 

Meanwhile, the Dhubri district administration today organised a meeting at its conference hall asking the people to maintain peace and harmony in the district. In the meeting, Dhubri SP Yuvraj said that the overall law-and-order situation of the district is peaceful, “We have deployed additional forces to prevent any untoward situation. The Internet service has been suspended till today,” he said and sought cooperation from the people in order to maintain peace and harmony.
