One hacked to death by KPLT
Correspondent
DIPHU, Dec 12 – Suspected militants of the Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT) hacked a youth to death in the wee hours on Wednesday at Beloghat Men Taro village under the Dokmoka Police Station in east Karbi Anglong.

The relatives of the deceased, however, buried the body after the incident. It was exhumed on Thursday by the local police in the presence of the magistrate.

According to the police and villagers, suspected KPLT ultras dragged out Honor Kro from his house around 2.30 am and shoved him to the courtyard of the house where the miscreants struck him repeatedly with an axe on his head and abdomen. Bleeding profusely, Kro died on the spot.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the brother-in-law of the deceased, Sing Rongpi, was an active member of the outfit who fled from the militant hideout and took refuge in his brother-in-law’s house.

When cadres of the outfit came to Kro’s house to take Rongpi back to their camp, Rongpi was not present in the house. When the victim told the militants that Rongpi was not at home, they unleashed their wrath on Kro.

After committing the gruesome murder, the militants issued a stern warning to the villagers against informing the police and asked them to bury the deceased as per Christian rituals.

However, Dokmoka police along with the magistrate, Debasish Bora, on Thursday retrieved the body from the grave and sent it for post-mortem.

A case has been registered at the Dokmoka Police Station under various sections of the IPC. Police informed that Rongpi had once been in judicial custody and after his release from custody, he rejoined the outfit before escaping from the militant hideout.
