|Sivasagar tense following arrest of Bir Lachit Sena leader|
SIVASAGAR, Dec 10 - Sivasagar suddenly became very tense following the arrest of a Bir Lachit Sena leader and hundreds of youths gheraoing Sivasagar police station demanding his release.

Members of the All Assam Gariya Students’ Union took out a torch procession directly towards Sivasagar police station and burnt tyres in front defying Section 144 CrPC. Gaurisagar Police arrested Sringkhol Chaliha, organising secretary, Bir Lachit Sena in connection with anti-CAB stir this afternoon. As members of the organisation began raising slogans and gharaoed the police station, police resorted to lathicharge. Sasanka Gogoi and Asif Ali, two lensmen, were also reportedly beaten by the police at Gaurisagar following the arrest of Chaliha.
Later in the evening, hundreds of youths and a large number of mediapersons gathered in front of Sivasagar police station and raised slogans for release of their leader while media persons protested the attack on the media. Asif Ali told ANN Service, that police hit him on the chin and broke his mobile.
