Christmas, New Year’s Day celebrations from Dec 14

 GUWAHATI, Dec 10 - The Guwahati Baptist Church at Panbazar will celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day in a befitting manner.

 According to a press release, the celebrations will be heralded by house-to-house carolling i.e. singing Christmas songs separately by children, youths and women of the church from December 14. Christmas Eve service will be held on December 24 at 4 pm where a drama on the birth of Jesus known as Nativity will be staged by members of the Christian Endeavour Society of the church. Christmas service will be held on December 25 at 9.15 am and a special musical programme at 4 pm. Rev Dr JM Ngul Khan Pau, ex-general secretary of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India will be the guest speaker for the Christmas service.

A charitable programme is being planned for the Central Jail, Assam Shishu Sadan and Shanti Sadhana Ashram in the city to share the joy of Christmas with the inmates.

There will be annual sports followed by community feast on December 26 at Nichols School, Satribari. Watch night service will be held on December 31 at 11 pm, to be followed by New Year’s Day service on January 1 at 9.30 am in the church in which the pastor of the church will bring the message, the press release added.
