AGP for CBI probe into MLA controversy
GUWAHATI, Dec 10 – The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the affairs involving legislator Enamul Haque Laskar, who was an officer on special duty in the Irrigation Department before joining politics.Raising the issue immediately after the Question Hour in the State Assembly, Padma Hazarika (AGP) said that Laskar’s name was mentioned in the suicide note of an Irrigation Department employee and the former OSD was allegedly involved in large-scale corrupt practices in the department. He said that the police investigation was not satisfactory and Laskar was questioned briefly only yesterday as the government knew that the issue would be raised in the Assembly.

Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain said that the investigation into the issue is on, while Speaker Pranab Gogoi commented that the law should be equal for all.
