Sahitya Akademi award for Budhichandra

 IMPHAL, Dec 6 - Budhichandra Heisnamba was among the six authors who won the Sahitya Akademi award for short stories this year.

Budhichandra, who originally hails from Komlakhong Mayai Leikai, is currently a resident of Sagolband Moirang Hanuba Leirak in Imphal West district. He won the award for his collection of short stories, Ngamkheigee Wangmada, written in the Manipuri language.

Born to Heisnam Yaiskul and Heisnam Ongbi Keinaton on May 1,1973, Budhichandra teaches history at the Thambal Marik College, Oinam, in Bishnupur district.

The 45-year-old author who has published three books, including two books of short stories (Apikpa Nungshashor and Ngamkheigee Wangmada) and one poetry book (Ningtamba amasung Atiya) in the Manipuri language, had earlier won the Yumnam Lala Amasung Bidhumukhi Ningshing Sahitya Mana award conferred by the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad. He is a life member of the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Manipuri Sahitya Premi Samiti, Manipuri Literary Society, and the Cultural Forum and Fiction and Poetry Club, Manipur.
