‘At Home’ function at Raj Bhavan to mark Armed Forces Flag Day

GUWAHATI, Dec 6 - An ‘At Home’ function is being organised at the Raj Bhavan here tomorrow to celebrate the Armed Forces Flag Day. Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi who is also Chairman of the State Managing Committee for Ex-Serviceman Welfare will be present during the function.

This is for the fifth time that ‘At Home’ is being organised at Raj Bhavan to celebrate the Armed Forces Flag Day. Senior bureaucrats and police officers from the Govt of Assam and senior Armed Forces personnel will attend the event.

Gallantry award winners, war disabled personnel, war widows and ex-defence service officers, will also be present in the programme.

Every year since 1949, the Armed Forces Flag Day is being observed on December 7 throughout the country to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform, who bravely fight on India’s borders to safeguard its territorial integrity. This year too, this day is being observed across the country to remember the services rendered by personnel of the Army, Navy and Air Force to the nation. The day provides an opportunity to connect with Armed Forces personnel, their families and to reciprocate the common people’s admiration for them by contributing generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund to ensure welfare and rehabilitation of war widows, war wounded and dependants of the fallen soldiers and ex-servicemen.
