SIVASAGAR, Dec 6 - Amidst allegations of forgery and discrepancy in certificates and marksheets, Charitra Duworah, the principal of Betbari HS School, Sivasagar has been stripped of the charge of the principal for the time being by the higher authority vide an order No GBEST/ALLEGATION/30/2017/6-A to the Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar on December 4 last indicating a further action in this regard.
It may be mentioned that Duwora was in the seat since December 16, 2016 after the SMDC recommended his appointment as the Principal of the school following which the then principal-in-charge Indreswar Konwar, on the basis of an RTI to the Controller of Examinations, Dibrugarh University, challenged his appointment alleging Duwora’s MA and BEd marksheets and certificates as forged. He then brought it to the notice of the authority but for reasons not known no action was taken against the principal. But the new Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar, Abdul Zelil immediately wrote to the Director of Secondary Education for taking necessary action against the tainted principal. Montu Chetia Pator, secretary, Tai Ahom Students’ Union, Betbari unit, urged the authority through a memorandum to the Education Minister to take appropriate steps in making the pioneer institution free of corruption and irregularities for bringing back the academic environment which had been vitiated by the incident over the last several months.
