GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - A stoppage time goal by Chencho Gyeltshen secured a valuable point for Bengaluru FC in their match of the Hero Indian Super League against NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai here today.
After barren first session, Federico Gallego put the hosts up in front in the 64th minute while Gyeltshen found the back of the net in the additional minutes of the game to draw parity.
The first half was basically a midfield affair with the ball roaming around the middle third of the pitch mostly.
However, in the 11th minute a mistake made by Pawan Kumar could have provided Bengaluru FC the much needed lead. Receiving the ball from Mislav Komorski, he unnecessarily held the ball for a longer time. Sunil Chhetri got the ball out of the opponent goalkeeper’s feet but failed to place it home. It was the best scoring opportunity in the first session as both the teams adopted basically defensive tactics.
Federico Gallego found the back of the net to send the crowd into frenzy in the 64th minute. Bartholomew Ogbeche’s lobbed pass to a completely unmarked Gallego in the box, to see the latter shoot on target. Bengaluru custodian Gurpreet Singh Sandhu managed to get a hand to the ball but failed to stop from conceding the goal.
A cross from the left flank by Kean Lewis found the head of Chhetri who put it at the right height for Gyeltshen to kick it to the left of Pawan Kumar for a 1-1 draw.
