Marxist leader Bipin Hazarika remembered

 DOOMDOOMA, Dec 4 - Rich tributes were paid to veteran Marxist leader, former MLA of Sadiya LAC and a social activist Bipin Hazarika on his second death anniversary on Tuesday.

On the occasion, a special memorial meeting was organised at Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha (DSSS) Bhawan by Doomdooma branch of Ellora Vigyan Mancha (EVM) in collaboration with DSSS.

At the beginning of the meeting, DSSS president Arjun Baruah lit the earthen lamp and offered floral tributes at the portrait of Bipin Hazarika.

The meeting was chaired by Doomdooma branch EVM president Jhikananda Borgohain. At the outset, Doomdooma branch EVM secretary advocate Tarini Deka explained the objectives of the meeting.

Addressing the meeting as the appointed speaker, former Principal of Digboi College, Maneswar Barman dwelt at length on various aspects of life and works of Bipin Hazarika. Senior trade union leader Prakash Rajkhowa and DSSS president Arjun Baruah also spoke on the occasion. DSSS secretary Deben Deka offered the vote of thanks.

In the meeting, Doomdooma Branch EVM felicitated the family members of late Bipin Hazarika, wife of the founder president of Doomdooma branch EVM late Dr Harendra Nath Deka, Mina Deka and the wife of an active member of Doomdooma branch EVM late Jatin Borthakur, Mrinalini Borthakur.

It may be mentioned here that Bipin Hazarika was the first person from Doomdooma area who donated his body for medical research through Doomdooma branch EVM. Jatin Borthakur also wished to donate his body after death for medical research, but due to some technical problem it could not be materialized.
