International Day for Persons with Disabilities

 GUWAHATI, Dec 3 – The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Persons with Disabilities under the Department of Disability Affairs, Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, celebrated the International Day of Person with Disabilities today at its office campus. It also organised a disability awareness programme on the occasion.

 About 200 persons including 125 persons with disabilities from all section of the society participated in the function.

Lt Col Bhim Along inaugurated the occasion, while veteran journalist Apurba Sharma inaugurated the awareness programme. Sharma in his speech stressed on the need of an inclusive society and requested the persons with disabilities (PWDs) to feel themselves as a part and parcel of the society.

CK Saikia, editor, Gana Sambad said that proper vocational training can make PWDs economically self - reliant. Lanu W Aimol, officer - in - charge of the Centre welcomed the dignitaries while Rajeev Bhardwaj explained the aims and objectives of the programme.
