Correspondent
IMPHAL, Dec 2 - The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has invited the Manipur People against Citizenship Bill (MANPAC) – a conglomerate of civil society organisations – for consultation on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in New Delhi on Tuesday.

This was announced by MANPAC convenor Yumnamcha Dilipkumar at a press conference in Imphal on Monday. MANPAC had been spearheading the public movement against the implementation of CAB in the state, under the initiative of the North East Forum of Indigenous People (NEFIP). “We have nominated nine delegates to participate in the consultation at New Delhi with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. We will to place our demand – not to implement CAB in Manipur as well as in the entire North East,” said Dilipkumar.

Prior to their departure for New Delhi, the MANPAC delegation will meet women vendors of the iconic Ima market in Imphal and seek blessings.
