|Baksa DC appeals for peace and harmony |
BARAMA, Dec 2 – Vinod Seshan, the Deputy Commissioner of Baksa district has taken up some social activities through out the district for the development of the society. The DC conducted a cleanliness drive in different places of the district as a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. A peace convention was held at Barama HS School recently to discuss the prevailing situation of the district so that peace could prevail among the peace-loving people. In his welcome address, the DC appealed for peace and harmony in the society. He said that the three immediate kin of the youths killed by unidentified miscreants would be given ex -gratia amounting to Rs 5 lakh in the meeting.
Nava Kumar Sarania, Lok Sabha MP from Kokrajhar, addressing the meeting urged the people to remain peaceful and continue their struggle against extremists. He also expressed serious concern over the incidents of killing of innocent persons in the district. Maneswar Brahma, the local MLA of Barama, Paniram Rava , an ex-MLA from Barama LAC, Hemanta Prasad Rajkumar, SDO, Civil ( Sadar), Bhawani Prasad Sarma , ADC , Baksa also spoke among others in the convention.
Ex-gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh each were distributed to the next of kin of victims of the ethnic violence, namely late Manoj Das, late Bidyut Kalita and late Sanjay Das from the Chief Minister’s fund. A large number of people hailing from different villages attended the convention.
Free books distributed : Binod Das , the CO, Home Guard office, Nalbari distributed free books among the students of Balbhavan ME and Balbhavan High School , Sarihatali last Saturday. Distributing the free books, Das said that students should be equipped with knowledge from the primary stages. He asked the students to read more books excluding text books to earn knowledge. He also urged the student community to be good citizens.
The local people landed the role of the commandant. Tez Prasad Bhusal, ADC, Dipika Devi, head mistress, Bal Bhavan High School, Pramod Talukder, head master of Bal Bhavan ME school, Jogesh Malakar, president, Amar Mahanta, vice president of the district Home Guard Welfare Committee among others also attended the function.
