GUWAHATI, Dec 2 – The Assam Forest Officers’ Wives Welfare Society, Guwahati, organised a programme in the Assam State Zoo and felicitated the children of the employees of the Forest Department of Assam for their outstanding results in the HSLC and Higher Secondary Examination recently, a press release said.
Established in 2009, the primary objetive of the Society is to provide necessary assistance to the children and families of the forest employees who have served in difficult and remote areas for the protection of forests and wildlife areas at the cost of their health and life.
The Society, under the leadership of Neena Vishnoi, decided to award the meritorious children of Forest employees with scholarship to undertake higher studies. The recognition of talent of children led them to perform still better and motivated other children to perform better.
The scholarship programme was initiated in the year 2010 and till 2014 more than 50 students have
been provided with merit schiolarships.
The students felicitated were Rahul Ahmed Hazarika, Simanta Barua, Swarnav Das Barman, Mayuri Baruah, Madhurjya Bora, Piyush L Kashyap and Barnali Baishya.
Chairperson Neena Vishnoi praised the programme for the children and thanked their parents for providing good education to their children despite serious odds. The other members of the society namely Usha Pandey, Swarnalatha Haraprasad, Rajini Singh, Gayatri Suryanarayana, Savitri Rao, Sarika Gupta and Vandana Singh also encouraged the children and hoped that they will do even better in the future.
