Internationally-famed danseuse Dr Menaka PP Bora delivered the lecture on the topic ‘Indian arts through the box office: A transnational perspective of world music and dance in the global creative industry’.
Noted film personality, Bobbeeta Sharma was a special guest on the occasion.
The programme began with a brief introduction of Jayant Bhuyan by anchor Pritam Lahiri.
Dr Saumen Bharatiya, in his welcome speech, explained the importance of the occasion and the event to the audience. “We started Jayant Bhuyan Memorial Lecture two years back. In the first year, cyber security expert Subimal Bhattacharjee was the main speaker. Last year, internationally-acclaimed violinist Sunita Khound Bhuyan had delivered her lecture accompanied by the notes of violin. Jayant Bhuyan is one of the foremost personalities who had projected Assamese industry and commerce in the national scene. This initiative of ours is to pay homage to this great personality. To remember this illustrious son of Assam is like remembering the history of Assam,” he said.
Bobbeeta Sharma in her address said, “Jayant Bhuyan has effectively carved the name of the North-east in the national business scene. Assam’s growth in commerce has slowed down at his untimely demise. I hope that the new generation will take Assam forward in the fields of culture, commerce, music and dance in the coming days.”
