|Gas cracker project cost revised again |
NEW DELHI, Dec 2 – The project cost of the Assam Gas Cracker has been revised yet again with the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) re-estimating its cost to Rs 9,834 crore.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in November 2011 sanctioned a revision in the project cost to Rs 8,290 crore from Rs 5,460.61 crore. In view of time overrun, foreign exchange fluctuations, price escalation, change in scope, increase in statutory levies, in interest during construction, owner’s construction period expenses, the BCPL has projected further revision in the project cost to Rs 9,833.52 crore.
The targeted date of completion of the project has been mentioned as June 2015, said Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in the Lok Sabha in reply to a question by Assam MP Ramen Deka.
The minister, however, denied any change in the project from the original plan.
