AYP slams Modi on land swap deal issue
Staff Correspondent
DIBRUGARH, Dec 1 – Asom Yuba Parishad (AYP), the youth wing of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for changing his position after taking over the reins of the government at the Centre.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had said before the Lok Sabha polls that they would protect Assam land and would not allow the land swap deal between India and Bangladesh, but today they are proposing to hand over a portion of Assam’s land to Bangladesh. The BJP party had even hoisted Assam flag at the border declaring that the land belonged to Assam. But today the BJP-led government at the Centre is indicating that they would go ahead with the land swap deal,” AYP president Sunil Rajkonwar said.

The State unit of the BJP had taken out rallies against construction of big dams over rivers, but immediately after coming to power, Prime Minister Modi visited Bhutan to encourage construction of big dams there, the AYP charged.
