|Micro-bio lab, ART centre inaugurated at AMCH|
DIBRUGARH, Dec 1 – Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) Dr Atindra Kumar Adhikari today inaugurated the recently constructed Advanced Microbiology Lab complex.
As part of this new lab complex, a Bio Safety Level 3 Laboratory, a Line Probe Assay Laboratory and a Bio-Safety Level 2 Laboratory were opened with support of the Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi and Hospital Administration of the Assam Medical College. With these facilities, the medical institute can offer test for dangerous Drug Resistant TB patients for multiple drugs and in the shortest time possible. “These facilities can immensely help people in the entire North East region and beyond,” said Dr Adhikari.
The AMCH Principal said the medical institute is taking a step forward to serve people living with HIV/AIDS by inaugurating the ART Centre (Anti Retroviral Centre). This facility can help HIV or AIDS patients to get various services, including the entire range of diagnostic tests, counselling and treatment in a convenient manner, all under one roof.
A scientific symposium on ‘Update and Recent Advances in Management of HIV and TB Patients’ was also organised with speakers from Hyderabad, Guwahati and AMCH, who stressed on timely diagnosis and treatment of HIV infected people.
