CM opposes 100 pc FDI in Railways
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Dec 1 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today came out strongly against the Centre’s decision to go for 100 per cent FDI in Indian Railways and privatisation of railway stations.

“We want the Indian Railways to be with the government. Maybe, the government can seek investment in some areas to develop the railways. But we oppose privatisation. What will happen if it makes loss after being privatised?” Gogoi argued, while speaking to reporters here.

He accused the Narendra Modi-led Union government of following a ‘capitalist and corporatist policy’.

“It will not help the common people. Inclusive growth and privatisation are contradictory. He is now talking of the Jan Dhan scheme. But our Congress government had nationalised the banks at a time when Jana Sangh had opposed it.
