State Govt moves HC on oil royalty
Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Dec 1 – The State government has approached the Gauhati High Court seeking implementation of a recent Supreme Court judgement hiking royalty of oil produced in Gujarat, in Assam as well.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said here today that Gujarat and Assam were earlier getting the same royalty for the crude produced in their respective states. However, following a recent Supreme Court judgment the royalty given to Gujarat by the oil firms has been hiked.

“The royalty principle has to be the same. We have approached the Gauhati High Court to seek implementation of the Supreme Court ruling with regard to Assam also. But the Central government can direct the companies to hike the royalty they pay to us,” he said, and flayed the Centre for not doing enough in this regard.
