ITANAGAR, Dec 1 – Five more accused involved in the ‘Echo of Arunachal’ attack case, have been arrested following their surrender before the Itanagar Police here on November 29.
With this, all 10 accused involved in the vandalising and ransacking the ‘Echo of Arunachal’ office and physically assaulting its Associate Editor on November 9, have been arrested by police, according to City SP Surender Kumar.
The SP said that the five namely, Kipa Nai, Tadar Mama, Gyamar Talik, Kipa Simi and Tadar Chada, had to surrender because of “tremendous pressure put on them by Itanagar Police. During interrogation, they confessed their involvement.
After being produced before a local court, they were remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
Earlier, police had arrested the prime accused Dobing Sonam and three others from a hotel in Assam’s Guwahati in the intervening night of November 19-20, and another accused from Polo Colony, Naharlagun on November 13.
A case had been registered at the Itanagar PS in connection with the ransacking of ‘Echo of Arunachal’ and assault on its Associate Editor Tapan Kumar Das.
