|Golden jubilee of Nehru HS School|
BISWANATH CHARIALI, Nov 30 – Brisk preparations are going on for the golden jubilee celebration of Nehru Higher Secondary School, Gopalpur, Gohpur in Sonitpur district.
The school was established in 1964 as a high school and subsequently it was upgraded to a higher secondary school. The celebrations will be held on January 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2015 for which the laikhuta was installed on November 23 by Laksheswar Bhuyan, president, Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee. Local people, former students and members of the celebration committee were present in the programme conducted by Chida Hazarika, secretary, Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee.
Addressing a press meet later, Dr Jugal Borah, general secretary of the committee and principal of the school, informed that though no government funds had been received so far, people’s cooperation and help have encouraged them to go ahead. Executive president Droneswar Hazarika, vice-president Loken Hazarika were also present in the press meet. The stage, auditorium, gates, exhibition, etc., would be dedicated to various persons of the locality and a souvenir titled Swarnabh would be published.
