Extortionist shot by GNLA militants

 TURA, Nov 30 – A resident of Bollonggre Apal near Rari at Bajengndoba in the North Garo Hills was gunned down by suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants while he was at home. The incident happened about 60 kms from the town of Tura at about 6.30 pm yesterday.

The deceased, identified as Bing Chandra Sangma was at his residence when he was called outside and shot dead by three militants suspected to be from the GNLA outfit.

According to reports, the reason for the killing was said to be extortion of money that Sangma had been indulging in the name of the outfit. In the meantime, a case has been registered in this connection.
