|Suspected heroin, ganja recovered in Lakhimpur dist|
NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Aug 27 - In the continued fight against illicit trafficking of drugs in Lakhimpur district under the leadership of SP Lakhimpur, Harekrishna Nath, Lakhimpur Police recovered 104.65 kgs of cannabis (ganja) at Kadam-Tenga Basti, under Bogeenadi Police Station on Saturday night.
A police team comprising Pranab Kumar Pegu, Addl SP (HQ), Faruque Ahmed DSP (Border), Diganta Shaloi, OC, Bogeenadi Police Station and SI Priyabrat Gogoi and staff recovered the narcotics from a Suzuki Celerio car in Kadam-Tenga Basti. Two persons Sarat Dutta and Rajesh Munda were arrested from the vehicle carrying the narcotics. Three mobile phones were also seized from the arrested persons.
On Sunday, Lakhimpur police recovered 26.68 grams of suspected heroin from a woman in Banderdewa and 2.86 grams of the same drug from another person in Harmutty. A police team led by Lakhimpur DSP (HQ) Ruma Neog along with Madan Kalita, IC, Banderewa seized the narcotics from one Samartha Banu (55), wife of Late Sarudhan Rahman, near Brahmaputra Academy English School, Banderdewa.
Some 200 empty finger-sized plastic containers were also seized from the possession of the woman. In Harmutty, police arrested one Sohidul Islam (30), son of Abdul Shohid of No. 3 Dhalpur, Darrang district with 2.86 gm suspected heroin. Prabhakar Singh, IC Harmutty Police Outpost led the operation.
