Stern action against encroachers soon
Biplab Kr Dey
WILLIAMNAGAR, Aug 25 - East Garo Hills deputy commissioner Swapnil Tembe has decided to act sternly against all encroachers in the main Williamnagar Bazar.

The decision to do so was taken after an inspection involving municipal officials and the administration on Friday last week.

Last week, various NGOs based in Williamnagar had threatened to stage a protest near the Williamnagar Municipal Board (WMB) office due to the negligence on part of the authorities concerned in addressing different problems.

The NGOs had demanded that encroachment along the road to Warima bridge and the main market be stopped with immediate effect to allow smooth flow of traffic.

The DC, after an inspection, stated that many constructions along the route were indeed illegal and notices would be sent to all of them. Further, a separate auto parking zone would be demarcated in an effort to decongest traffic around the market, the DC added.
