Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Aug 25 - With a view to removing complications in the registration and renewal process under various labour laws enforced and monitored by the Labour Welfare department, the Commissionerate of Labour under the aegis of the Assam Labour Welfare Society will be organising a ‘Registration Mela’ in seven districts – Kamrup (Metro), Nagaon, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Cachar – on August 27.

The Mela will be an attempt to create awareness and conduct spot registration and renewal for employers and employees under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Act, 1997; The Contract Labour (R&A) Act, 1970; The Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961; The Unorganised Workers Social Security Act, 2008.

All employers, contractors and workers have been requested to be present at the venues on the day for hassle-free spot registration and renewal.

The venues are – Kamrup (Metro): Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Guwahati; Nagaon: Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner; Sonitpur: Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Tezpur; Jorhat: Bisturam Hall; Dibrugarh: Garden Treat, near Thana Chariali; Tinsukia: Manab Kalyan Prarthana Bhawan, Makum Road; and Cachar: DRDA Conference Hall, Silchar.
