GUWAHATI, Aug 25 – Rainfall in the morning hours for the past two consecutive days has led to waterlogging in some patches of the city today, creating troubles for commuters in the morning hours.

While some lanes and bye-lanes of Chandmari area faced waterlogging, Anil Nagar and Nabin Nagar also witnessed the menace.

Several roads of Panbazar including Motilal Nehru Road, Saraswati Road and GNB Road faced waterlogging that lasted for four hours. Parts of Lachit Nagar were also inundated in flash floods.

“No major waterlogging occurred in the city except Anil Nagar and Nabin Nagar, where the sluice gates have been closed down due to the increased water level of Bharalu. Till the sluice gates of Anil Nagar and Lachit Nagar are opened, continuous pumping would be done in the areas to flush out the accumulated water,” said DK Roy, executive engineer of the State Water Resources Department.
