Foundation day of Aaideo Talkies observed
 MANGALDAI, Aug 21 - The Aaideo Talkies, a voluntary cultural organisation which has been working in the field of reviving the glory of Assamese films through its display in mobile set up across the State observed its fifth foundation day on Sunday here at Prafulla Nagar.

 The day-long celebration organised in association with Mangaldai Citizen Forum and Prafulla Nagar United Youth Forum began with the hoisting of the organisational flag by its chief Ratna Das, followed by the smriti tarpan programme by its deputy chief Pappu Kabir.

In the afternoon, rich tributes were paid to the doyen of Assamese cinema, Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwalla and actress in the lead character of the film Joymati, Aaideo Handique. Manab Protim Das, president of the Darrang district branch of Aaideo Talkies lit the lamps before their portraits while cultural activist Sekhar Mazumdar offered garlands at their portraits.

The celebration also featured public felicitation to Tulashi Saikia, a veteran theatre artiste and a colourful cultural evening with the participation of local young and guest artistes from Guwahati.

Gurujyoti Das, while attending the inaugural function of the cultural evening as the chief guest, observed that Assamese culture cannot survive without Assamese films.

Ratna Das, chief of Aaideo Talkies, in his address, gave a brief account of the activities of the organisation and claimed to create 70,000 new viewers of Assamese films through their mobile cinema display campaign over the years. Earlier, Mizanur Rahman, a young promising entrepreneur, inaugurated the event.
