Tai Ahom students stage dharna
Correspondent
TINSUKIA, Aug 21 – Protesting against the alleged indifference of the State Government towards protecting the State land being grabbed by the neighbouring States and the failure to take action against the atrocities committed by Naga miscreants on the people living in the Assam-Nagaland border areas in Golaghat district since the last 10 days, the Tinsukia district committee of the All Tai Ahom Students’ Union (ATASU) staged a two-hour sit-in dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office complex here on Tuesday.

The student body also condemned the alleged atrocities by the police on the agitators protesting against such injustice and demanded that the guilty should be punished. Otherwise, with the cooperation of the people, the protest programmes would be intensified. The student body also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.
