Sunrise outsmart AP Blues, FCI win
Sports reporter
GUWAHATI, Aug 19 – Sunrise Athletic Club earned full points with a convincing 3-1 victory against Assam Police Blues in RG Baruah GSA Super Division Football League.

In the other match of the day, FCI Sports Club edged out SAI Sports Club 1-0 at the Nehru Stadium here.

Displaying a well combined game Sunrise went ahead in the 45th minute when Ageyekum E Amoafo fired home from top of the box receiving a high ball from midfield.

The policemen staged a fightback after the break and restored parity in the 73rd minute when Joseph Maslai found the target with an angular drive.

But the later part of the match belonged to the Sunrise boys as they outwitted the opponent defence with a series of attacks. Gyaneswar Singh made it 2-1 in favour of Sunrise with a solo effort. Police custodian Kailash Das had no answer to his 25-yard left-footed drive in the 80th minute. Ageyekum E Amoafo completed the rout in the 84th minute. The Police players also made some valiant effort but lady luck did not smile on them. Robijit Jigdung and Joseph’s shots hit the crosspiece in the later part of both the sessions. On the second ground, riding on a 16th minute goal by Thomson Langthasa, FCI defeated SAI SC. The FCI team shared the ball more and created several openings but due to lack of proper finishing they could not win the match by a big margin.
