|Prof Tabu Ram Taid laid to rest at Gogamukh|
DHEMAJI, Aug 18 - The last rites of eminent Mising educationist, author, and administrator Professor Tabu ram Taid, who passed away on Saturday morning was performed with full state honours at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district this afternoon.

The Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) led by Paramanada Chayengiya made all the necessary arrangements for the burial at Abotani Lotta near the Gogamukh weekly market.
The mortal remains of Prof Taid were flown from Guwahati to Lakhimpur by a helicopter, and his last rites were performed at the Ghunasuti High School playground. Later, his body was taken to Gogamukh for burial according to Mising customs.
The last rites of the late legendary educationist were performed in the presence of eminent personalities like Minister Ranjeet Dutta, Dhemaji MLA Ranoj Pegu, Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu, Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan and Lahowal MLA Rituparna Baruah besides MAC members, Dhemaji Deputy Commissioner MP Singh and many other dignitaries.
MAC Chief Paramananda Chayengiya in his message recalled that late Prof Taid had played a major role in the promotion and preservation of the Mising language and the State has lost a valuable human resource with the demise. He has announced that the MAC would take up schemes for erection of a statue of the late legendary Mising educationist besides granting fund for construction of a museum in his name.
Meanwhile, the Asam Sahitya Sabha, Indigenous Tribal Sahitya Sabha, Assam, writer Nahendra Padun, All Assam Students’ Union, All Guwahati Students’ Union, All India Tribal Students Association, Mising Artist Association and many other social organisations have condoled the death of Prof Taid, terming it an irreparable loss for the State.
