|Tree plantation drive by Brahma Kumaris|
GUWAHATI, Aug 18 - Under an umbrella project titled ‘Green India-Clean India’, initiated by the education wing of the Brahma Kumaris, the Guwahati branch of the organisation on Sunday launched a tree plantation drive in which around 50 saplings were planted on the Majar Road in Bhangagarh area, stated a press release.
This project started on July 10 and shall culminate on September 30, 2019 at the Shantivan Campus, Abu Road in Rajasthan. The Brahma Kumaris aim to plant at least two lakh trees annually across various locations in India.
Rajyogini Brahma Kumari Sheela, sub-zone in-charge of Brahma Kumaris NE zone, Dr Arun Kumar Sarma, former Member of Parliament; Vijay Kumar Gupta, chairman of the Assam Financial Corporation Ltd, and others planted the saplings under the supervision of ‘tree man’ Bakul Gogoi.
The campaign also aims to plant thousands of saplings of diverse varieties in Guwahati with contribution from people in schools and colleges, community groups, businesses and the government.
