|Lecture session on intellectual property rights at city college|
GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell organised a lecture session on Intellectual Property Rights today on the college premises, according to a press release.
Prof Romesh Ch Borpatra Gohain, Advocate General, Govt of Assam who inaugurated the session, laid stress on the fact that if science and technology are not controlled by spiritual power, a day will come when there will be total annihilation of mankind from this world. The misuse of technologies has endangered many indigenous intellectual properties vis-a-vis their original source. The intellectual property rights would go a long way in protecting such intellectual properties, he said.
Lectures were also delivered by lawyers Anee Das and Prakreetish Sarma on the fundamentals of intellectual property rights, copyright laws under intellectual property rights and trademark laws under intellectual property rights.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Principal of the host college Dr Sikhamoni Konwar, spoke on the importance of intellectual property rights in the face of the globalisation and rapid spread of information technology. She called for proper implementation of intellectual property rights for safeguarding intellectual properties and preventing their misuse and corruption. The lecture session was attended by the students and teachers of the college.
