GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - “Blood donation is a noble service one can render for humanity. It enhances the sense of pride and social belongingness, and also develops an altruistic attitude among mankind.”
This was said by Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi while inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by Shree Krishna Pranami Seva Samittee at Dispur on Saturday.
Thanking the blood donors, Mukhi said, “Your gesture in donating blood is a symbol of your benevolence and greatness, which I am sure will go a long way in establishing your personality in a society where many people are in desperate need of blood to remain alive. I extend my gratitude to all the donors who have come voluntarily for this noble cause.”
The Governor said that as blood cannot be produced in factories, therefore, voluntary donation saves several lives every day. He appealed to all to come forward and donate blood for it was the greatest sacrifice one can make to give life to someone.
Swami Sadanand Pranami Charitable Trust chairman Swami Sadanand Maharaj was also present on the occasion. The trust, which is the Guwahati chapter of the Shree Krishna Pranami Seva Samittee, has organised a number of blood donation camps to help people in need. The camp witnessed participation of many students from Province College, Dispur College and City Public College and members of the Shree Krishna Pranami Seva Samittee.
